When you hold people accountable, their true colors are revealed. Some apologize. Others attack the messenger. The first person to speak up is often treated like the troublemaker; the second person to experience it becomes the proof.
When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. And if speaking the truth costs you a seat at the table, it may have been the wrong table all along.
Although I miss some friends, I do not have time for drama, two-faced people, or those who think it’s acceptable to play games. I have even less time for people who cannot admit when they are wrong or take responsibility for their actions.
Life is too short to spend it walking on eggshells around people who refuse to acknowledge their mistakes, own their behavior, and learn from it.
I am willing to give a second chance because people can grow and change. However, trust is earned, and once it has been broken, it may be rebuilt, but it will never be exactly the same.
