Week In Review: Oops! Recovery Had Other Plans… | August 9, 2026

Happy Sunday!

Normally, my Week in Review lands in your inbox on Saturdays, but this week recovery had other plans. Between adjusting to life in a cast, doctor appointments, and simply listening to what my body needed, I completely lost track of the day.

Better late than never, right? 😊

So, grab your favorite drink, get comfy, and let’s catch up on what happened this week.

Sometimes the biggest victories aren’t measured by how much we accomplish—they’re measured by the little milestones along the way.

This week was full of those moments.

🩺 Recovery Update
The biggest news this week was my follow-up appointment. This past Friday, my stitches are officially out, and I’ve graduated from my splint into a cast for 4 weeks! While I’m still non-weight-bearing, it feels good to reach another milestone in the healing process. It is getting there!

🎨 Behind the Scenes
Even with the brain fog that occasionally tags along with recovery, I spent time working behind the scenes.

I wrapped up some cleanup on both of my blogs. Sometimes creative progress doesn’t happen in the craft room—it happens during the planning stage.

I am still doing LIVES on Sunday and Wednesday at 6 pm CT. Even though it’s short ones lately since my foot does get pretty cranky when I put it down.

💙 Personal Reflection
One thing I’ve been reminded of this week is that asking for help doesn’t make me weak.

As someone who likes to stay independent, relying on others has been one of the hardest parts of this recovery. But every day is another opportunity to practice patience, gratitude, and grace—for myself and for the people helping me along the way.

🌱 Looking Ahead
This coming week, my focus is simple:

  • Continue healing.
  • Ease back into creating when my foot allows.
  • Keep planning upcoming craft projects.
  • Share more of my journey—both in the Craft Blog and over on Life Beyond the Craft Table. which isn’t much but it’s a start.

Every day may not feel productive, but every day is another step forward.

Thank you for continuing to follow along, cheer me on, and encourage me throughout this journey. Your kind messages truly mean more than you know.

Have a wonderful week!

💙 Jenifer

ps.We did have a very sweet visit from our 4 months old granddaughter, Addie the other night. Isn’t she adorable!!
