2025 Word of the Year

Hello and welcome back! I cannot believe that in about three and half hour we’ll be in 2025!  Time definitely flew this year! So many changes happened this year and some were good and bad.  Life is always full of that!  Soooo that brings me to this – the word of the year! It’s TIME to find a word that you want to “guide” yourself into for the new year!

Now, I have to tell you this that I normally have my word of the year mid-October to November.  This year, it didn’t come to me at all for a long time. Until today, it came!

Some of you may know that I struggled a lot this year with so many changes such as my mental health (and, yes – I got myself into counseling and am doing better!), my health (issues w/ knee) and we were fostering a boy for the last 4 years until June and he was reunited with his mother – which is a good thing!  She has asked us to stay in his life as his “grandparents’ and we are so thrilled and thankful that she asked us. He had came to us at the heightened state of COVID period and it was stay at home shelter time.  By that time, I only had my youngest son still living at home along with our grandson (oldest son’s).   As the oldest and middle sons had already moved out prior year.  Fast forward to this year in June – there’s NO KIDS LIVING AT HOME!  It was a quite big adjustment for my husband me, but more for me as I’ve always been stay at home mom.   So you can say we’re empty nester now with 2 dogs!  Then you add in the business with Chalk Couture – there were so many changes within the company that affected my business which I don’t quite agree with how things were handled or planned.  I know that’s the cycle of business, but it was huge impact in a negative way.  Unfortunately, I’m still struggling with that at this point).   On top of those changes, two of our sons had gotten married!  The youngest was in May and the middle was in September. So you can imagine there were so many changes and challenges this year.

OH YES! There is one more NEW changes that will be coming soon in 2025 that I am SO SO EXCITED about! My mom and bonus mom is MOVING BACK HOME from Florida after 30+ years! They have already bought a house up here and will be moving up soon as they sell their house in Florida. I am SO TICKLED EXCITED!

I struggled with my brand identity which is Jenifer Benner Studio | Jen’s ASL Craft Studio – as I do have a Facebook page and I’ve always want to add in another things that are not related to paper-crafting or any type of crafting, but I’ve always allow the opinions of others stop me from doing what I wanted to do with the page. So you MAY see some changes coming at one point with the Facebook page and possibly on this blog as well. Maybe or Maybe not. 🙂

SOOO, that brings me to my word of the year which is RECLAIM.   The meaning of reclaim is “to  retrieve or recover (something previously LOST, given or paid) or to obtain the RETURN of.” which is very fitting for what I am aiming for 2025.   Keep reading on to what I will be reclaiming back what I have lost control of.

So I’m RECLAIMING back my health in all aspects (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually), reclaiming my boundaries (learning to say NO and not be afraid/guilty), reclaiming my craft passions and reclaiming back my business with Chalk Couture and Stampin’ Up!

So there you have it!  Have you decide your word of the year?  I’d love to hear them!  Drop a comment below!

Until then! Much Love!
